Day Trip

Mackinder's Valley Excursion Mount Kenya

Can you get to Mackinders Valley?
The Sirimon route is the best option if you’re on a small budget but still want to experience Mount Kenya. Due to the trail’s short length, it is possible to go all the way to the Mackinders Valley, a 16 Km trek in a duration of 6 hours, where you may take in stunning peak views, in a single day. You can choose to hike up from the Sirimon gate up to Mackinders through Old Moses and Likii Valley or drive up through the park to Old Moses as you enjoy the stunning view of the flora and fauna and if you are lucky enough, some wildlife may cross your paths. Mackinders Hike track winds its way past the upper moorland zone, which is filled with lobelias and other lovely alpine vegetation.

Our ascent comes to an end at the Mackinders Valley, where, if the weather is cooperative, we will take in beautiful views of the Peaks before descending.
